Wara Ugarte works and lives in Bern, Switzerland. After completing a bachelor’s degree in Visual Communication at the Bern Academy of the Arts (HKB) in 2017, she worked in several design studios such as Atelier Nord (Basel), Bonbon (Zurich), Noord (Bern) as well as at Bühnen Bern. In 2020, she was involved as research assistant in the research project «Genderblind – an analysis of the careers of graduates of Visual Communication at the HKB».
Today, Wara Ugarte is working as head of communication for the Bad Bonn Club and Kilbi Festival in Düdingen. Since 2021 she is in addition enrolled in a master’s program of Gender Studies and Art History at the University of Basel and since 2023 also working student at the Interdisciplinary Centre of Gender Studies at the University of Bern in a project focusing on diversity and gender equality in the Swiss cultural sector.
